The reader’s problem
A short ruling summary may identify a decision without showing the reasoning behind it.
What changed
The full-judgment work added the scanned judgment behind a ruling record and a page-by-page machine reading where available. Search could then use judgment text instead of stopping at the catalogue's summary.
Using the feature
Open a ruling, follow its original PDF link and compare the relevant passage with the scan. The page reading helps locate words in a long document; the image gives you the reference for checking them. Availability depends on whether that judgment has a scan and a completed reading.
Reading the evidence
Machine reading is especially fallible on poor scans and handwriting. A searchable passage should lead back to the original, not conceal it. Later work added visible disagreements, confidence warnings and page-level API access. Those additions refine the same principle: make the reasoning easier to inspect while preserving its source.
