Read difficult judgments with a visible warning

Hard-to-read judgment pages can be published with a low-confidence warning and the original PDF link.

The reader’s problem

Handwritten judgments are part of the legal record even when transcription is difficult.

What changed

The 24 October confidence policy made completed readings available while marking difficult pages as low confidence. It avoided treating the number of readers alone as the definition of a reliable page.

Using the feature

Use the text to locate a passage, then compare it with the original PDF. A warning tells you to expect more reading errors, particularly in handwriting. The API exposes the page's confidence flag so an application can retain the same distinction instead of presenting every transcription with equal certainty.

Reading the evidence

A page with one reading may be visible, and a later reading may improve it. The warning is about the transcription, not a judgment about the court's decision. Do not use a difficult passage as a verified quotation without checking its image and surrounding text.
