Search with the citation you already have

Number, year and date recognition helps a legal citation reach the intended text.

The reader’s problem

A legal citation is more than a bag of keywords.

What changed

The citation-search work added direct number-and-year lookup, then support for full dates and dates written with Arabic or French month names. Arabic-Indic digits were folded into the same lookup path, so the way a number is typed need not decide whether it can be found.

Using the feature

Enter the citation as you have it, including the kind of text and full date when known. Those details help distinguish records that share a number. Article-and-code queries can also lead directly to a numbered provision instead of a broad list of keyword matches.

Reading the evidence

A matching number alone is not proof of identity. Different texts can reuse it across dates, years and kinds. Read the result's title and publication details before relying on it, and keep the complete citation in your notes.
