بناء على المرسوم رقم 1936 المؤرخ في تموز سنة 1927 يحدث مركز للبريد والبرق في الشويفات اعتبارا من تاريخ 20 آب سنة 1927 ويتعاطى هذا المركز: أ- من اعمال البريد 1- كل المعاملات الداخلية 1- للخارج معاملات التحارير والعلب ذات القيمة المقدرة والحوالات البريدية والطرود البريدية العادية وذات القيمة المقدرة ب - من أعمال البرق مبادلة البرقيات مع الداخل والخارج بأحرف عربية ولاتنية. وتحدد اوقات العمل في هذا المركز للمعاملات البريدية والبرقية معا من الساعة السابعة الى الساعة الثامنة عشرة
